It took me a while to come up with the words to describe our experience with Anna as our Doula.

 

We had our baby girl at home on the first day of quarantine 3/24/20. I was having prodromal labor for weeks. Anna was so patient and helpful in getting me through those hard times. She came to visit me a few times before the baby was born. I don’t have family in the area so extra support was needed for our birth. Especially since we had 4 other children at the time.

 

When Anna visited me she helped keep my kids calm and preoccupied so I could have mommy time to relax and help baby want to come. Her acupressure techniques and talking to me helped ease my tensions about the looming virus concerns. Near the end of my pregnancy, I had a hard time as the prodromal labor was getting more intense. However, not much progress was being made. Then my water broke, I was having constant contractions, couldn’t sleep, and was miserable. Anna came and comforted me once again. My midwife, her assistant, and Anna all stayed until 1 am until they insisted I rest since things were moving slowly (I had been laboring for hours, if not days).

 

Early the next morning I called Anna back, she was right here. She helped me walk around my neighborhood, held me when I had a big contraction, and pushed me just enough to get the baby’s head where it needed to be. My midwife encouraged Anna to help me do the “Miles circuit” to get the baby down. After a few very painful revolutions around my porch and steps, I could barely walk. She helped my husband get me to the room. Being baby number five, once she was in position, it wasn’t long. During the transition, I remember feeling powerless for a moment and saying “ I can’t do this” .. Anna pointed to my birth affirmations and reminded me “it is not pain, it is power” you’ve got this.. within a few short pushes we had our baby girl.

 

This was the first time I had a Doula, and we both found it such a blessing that we were able to work with such a wonderful lady. My husband needed the help as much as I did. I will never forget what Anna did for us. I recommend her to any person wanting a doula. I want to also say she always made herself available to me as a top priority, even during times of a pandemic, she was there for my family! She was so supportive in all ways and honored everything I asked for of my birth experience. Best birth ever! You rock Anna!

My husband and I are so glad we found Anna as our doula. Our first planning sessions were extremely helpful for planning and understanding all the different choices we might face. It took 50 hours from starting my induction to delivery and Anna was a fantastic support, guide, and sounding board. She helped us make informed choices about the medical assistance offered. I was very happy with my birth experience and most importantly, having a safe delivery and healthy baby. Her follow up appointments were so helpful as new parents navigating breastfeeding and overall baby care. I highly recommend her services!

Anna was a godsend for our family! She was with us for 2 homebirths (1 during covid times). Her personality is so warm, comforting and nonjudgemental. She is easy to talk to, listens well and can take your mind off the bad moments quickly. Anna has great reccomendations for all sorts of pernatal/postpartum care & comfort. She was always willing to go the extra mile & take initiative. I would consider Anna a friend more so now than just my Doula. We love Anna and will hire her time and time again.
